My entire house is full of windows and bright sunlight. Also my dad left me with his fish tank when I moved out and the only place I can keep it is in my balcony. What modifications would you suggest to make it work?
If you don’t have a cabinet and you choose the canister filter, you’re basically screwed… lol lol lol 😂😂😂

Excellent tips. I appreciate the vinegar on rocks suggestion, I love looking for cool river stones so that is helpful in finding ones that won’t affect the water too much.
I'm looking to start an aquarium and I have questions I'd like to ask.
1. Can I use acrylic to make the tank? I want to build my own tank as it's cheaper in my area than to buy a pre built one.
2. Can I use LED strip as light source? Sadly, shipment from foreign country is complicated in my country, so it's really complicated and long to buy lights online.
3.Can I use gravel and soft dirt from ponds or lake as substrate? I'm thinking if putting big gravel at bottom, a layer of soft dirt and than aquarium gravel on top. Aquatic equipment and materials are unreasonably expensive in ny country.
4. Can I use petrified woods as hardscapes? I have a bunch and I think it looks cool.
5. Can I use native snails to deal with nitrate cycle? They are very abundant.

Hi MJ just a quick question, you don't seem to cap your substrate is this correct? If so can you tell us why? I ordered the same substrate you use and just worried I'll kill hundreds of dollars worth of plants and fish as every other creator seems to cap their substrate by double the substrate used… Please help a newbie out haha thanks!
