I had a lot of fun making this because I felt like an advice columnist like "Dear Abby." Do you want to see me review more "Am I the Jerk?" aquarium stories? Or do you have your own questions you want my advice on?
What is the big bug you can see on the wood in the tank?
I did this to my grandmother’s aquarium when I was little and she never had one again! 😢 just a pond outside after that lol. This is now one of my biggest fears as a fish mom with a niece often running around.
Childproof an apartment that no children live in for the benefit of guests? Sure, if the aunt pays for that too
That's such a healthy way to deal with it but the 19 year old me would have thrown a fit
its not just bout cost but lives. 🙁
visit her house, destroy something
I had to stop having a dear friend over because her kids would do things like this. I never asked for compensation, but because her kids were always with her, she couldn’t come over for years until her kids were older and more in control of themselves.
This is how criminals are made. All leniency with no accountability.
Or dont forgive her and never invite her or her brat over XD
Aunt probably doesn't know how much work an aquarium is. The kid didn't just do damage, but undid an untold amount of hours worth of work.
BYE AUNT
Based ☕️
The aunt should and must pay if she wont then they wont be entering you plave anytime soon
I would ban them from my house and never speak to them again for a really long time
Aha sue her
I’d never forgive but silently seethe and gradually stop speaking to them, definitely never having them over agaib
If your poor a fish tank shouldn't be in your budget.
If someone did that to the tank I had just scaped 5 minutes ago, I’d break their legs
If my relative killed my pet accidentally or not, i would never forgive them. I wouldn’t hold a grudge, or i would try not to. But never forgive.
She really said to child proof her house when she’s not the one with kids
Something similar actually happened with me and my turtle. My cousins dumped the entire concept of food into the tank. Luckily my turtle is fine, though the filter was not happy with all of the food that was stuck in it, so it cranked out.
Why would someone childproof a home that has no children. The aunt was visiting so she should have kept an eye on her son to make sure he behaves
I have a 4 year old. He loves fish and knows to never tap on the glass and would never think to dump a whole container of fish food in someone else's tank. But then I have a sister who would have brought a cat in the room and opened the top when she was little just to watch the show, so I guess it depends on the kid
What I would have done is sigh of disapointment and with a disapointed anoyed face explain how much things cost and ask her for some money to rebuild if that doesn't work (or if it does) I would invit her kid or her any time soon as she said
Ahh see I'd be extra mad not even about the money because money comes and goes but a life taken is still a life lost and cannot be replaced
Ultimately you need to take responsibility of u allowed into your house as well and not go off on someone right off the bat.. …. it would've be great if the aunt can take responsibility too but you can't force anyone unless you sue ….u should know how your relatives are.. … your allowed to be mad and upset but yelling and aggressively acting on those emotions will NOT help unless u only want to escalate the situation… it's not bottling up your emotions it's being tactical
I'd just cut them out of my life tbh
If the mother of the kid refuse to pay, her child’s liver will do the trick.
